The Department of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes is an integral part of the Division of Internal Medicine. Our mission is to provide outpatients and hospitalized patients with consultation and clinical laboratory services involving hormonal and metabolic disorders.
The medical and multidisciplinary team deals with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases in the following areas:

The Diabetes Unit treats patients with type 1, type 2 diabetes, diabetes in organ-transplanted patients and other forms of diabetes including rare genetic disorders such as MODY. The diabetes unit at Hadassah is nationally and internationally recognized as a leader in clinical and basic transitional research.

The Neuroendocrine Tumor Unit (NET) treats patients with neuroendocrine tumors including carcinoid tumors, pancreatic islet cell tumors, pheochromocytomas, paragangliomas, medullary thyroid carcinomas, adrenal carcinomas, and multiple endocrine neoplasia syndromes (MEN1 & 2). The NET Unit is recognized as a Center of Excellence by the European Endocrine Tumor Society (ENET)

Bone and mineral metabolism disorders including primary and secondary osteoporosis, hyperparathyroidism and hypoparathyroidism, and Paget’s disease of bone

Pituitary diseases including hyperprolactinemia, acromegaly, Cushing’s, benign and malignant tumors

Benign thyroid diseases including hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism, Graves' disease and thyroid cancers

Adrenal diseases including cortisol excess and insufficiency, aldosterone excess, endocrine hypertension, congenital adrenal hyperplasia

Endo-oncology: endocrine effects of oncology treatments including immune check point inhibitors and hormone therapy for breast and prostate cancer

Endocrine disorders in patients with kidney, liver and other organ transplants

Obesity and the endocrine ramifications of bariatric surgery

Sex hormone disorders in females and males
In Internal Medicine ambulatory day care, dynamic endocrine testing is carried out in all areas of endocrinology including water deprivation, glucose tolerance, ACTH stimulation and others.
In nuclear medicine, thyroid and parathyroid mapping, radioactive iodine treatments for benign and malignant thyroid diseases, diagnostic mapping and treatments for neuroendocrine tumors are performed.
At the Center for Osteoporosis at Hadassah Mount Scopus, bone density tests are conducted.
