The Department of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes is an integral part of the Division of Internal Medicine. Our mission is to provide outpatients and hospitalized patients with consultation and clinical laboratory services involving hormonal and metabolic disorders.

The medical and multidisciplinary team deals with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases in the following areas:

  • The Diabetes Unit treats patients with type 1, type 2 diabetes, diabetes in organ-transplanted patients and other forms of diabetes including rare genetic disorders such as MODY. The diabetes unit at Hadassah is nationally and internationally recognized as a leader in clinical and basic transitional research.
  • The Neuroendocrine Tumor Unit (NET) treats patients with neuroendocrine tumors including carcinoid tumors, pancreatic islet cell tumors, pheochromocytomas, paragangliomas, medullary thyroid carcinomas, adrenal carcinomas, and multiple endocrine neoplasia syndromes (MEN1 & 2). The NET Unit is recognized as a Center of Excellence by the European Endocrine Tumor Society (ENET)
