Hadassah's Corneal Unit is the largest of its kind in Israel. The unit has four senior physicians, all of whom have vast experience treating corneal diseases. The physicians have all completed training and research in the field at prestigious hospitals abroad, employing their acquired knowledge and techniques in their work at Hadassah's Corneal Unit. Several of the physcians also teach at the Hebrew University - Hadassah School of Medicine. Additionally, all of our physicians are actively involved in basic and clinical research, much of which has brought to light new developments and understanding in the field.
The Cornea Unit performs close to 100 corneal implants annually. Additionally, the unit also performs cataract surgeries, pterygium removal, lens implants, exterior eye surface reconstruction and more.
The Corneal Unit specializes in treating pterygium, growths in the conjunctiva and cornea, and cases of severe dry eye syndrome. Our unit also houses a Contact Lens Clinic, where our staff helps patients suffering from astigmatism. The unit also performs many LASIK procedures at Hadassah Optimal. Our unit also serves as a national reference center for complex diseases of teh cornea and exterior eye. We treat thousands of patients who are referred to us both from other Israeli hospitals and clinics and from abroad.
