Synopsis
My research interests are in clinical research in the field of pediatric thrombosis and hemostasis. My career started during the three years of the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellowship and Pediatric Hemostasis Fellowship at The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada (1999-2002). In October 2002 I joined the Department of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, Hadassah, as a senior physician and in 2012 I was appointed the Head of the Pediatric Hematology Center. In order to improve my knowledge in clinical research, I have completed a master degree in Clinical Epidemiology Departments of Public Health and, The School for Public Health, Hadassah Hebrew-University Medical School (2006-2009).
My main research interest in pediatric thrombosis are studying the thrombotic complications of central venous catheters and development of the post thrombotic syndrome (PTS) in children. In addition, I am involved in several studies of the new direct oral anticoagulants in children. My main research interest in pediatric hemostasis is – 1. menorrhagia in adolescents, the association with bleeding disorders and iron deficiency anemia. We are currently organizing, with the support of the army medical research unit, a study on menorrhagia, dysmenorrhea and iron deficiency and effect on activity among young women soldiers from combat and non-combat units. 2. Studying the epidemiology, genetic and management of inherited platelet disorders.
