Synopsis
Ilana Kadmon is a Nurse Specialist in Breast Cancer Care at Hadassah Medical Center, Jerusalem. She received her PhD from The University of Edinburgh. The focus of her thesis was women’s participation in the decision-making regarding their treatment and the nursing role.
Ilana has initiated the post of the Breast Care Nurse in Israel. This position was developed at Hadassah with the support of the Israel Cancer Association. In her work, she has been following hundreds of women with breast cancer, offering emotional support and advice. Beyond her clinical expertise, as a Senior Lecturer at the Hadassah School of Nursing at the Hebrew University, Ilana lectures and writes in many areas related to breast cancer. She also specialized in qualitative research methods in nursing research. She has also supervised MA students in their thesis.
Beyond clinical practice, teaching, and research, she was also active for women with breast cancer and chaired the Israeli Breast Cancer Coalition. Nationally, she is also a member of the Oncology Advisory Committee to the Ministry of Health. On the international level, Ilana served as a Board Member of the European Oncology Nursing Society, and is also a member of the Editorial Committee of the European Journal of Oncology Nursing.
Ilana was involved in international project with nurses from Tianjin, China. She has been there a few times for seminars and lectures, and initiated some cross-cultural research. Moreover, Ilana has been invited to Cyprus, Greece Russia and Turkey to teach in her area of expertise.
