Synopsis
Our research group aims to understand the mechanisms behind ocular tumors with an emphasis on metastatic uveal melanoma.
We have an ongoing project to find serum biomarkers to detect uveal melanoma liver metastases before imaging modalities can detect them.
In parallel, we try to develop novel treatments for these metastases.
In addition, we are curious about other tumors within the eyes and around them (e.g. retinoblastoma, vitreo-retinal lymphoma, ocular adnexal lymphoma (conjunctival lymphoma), conjunctival melanoma, corneal-conjunctival epithelial malignancies - CIN, SCC, etc.). We strive to learn more about the epidemiology of these tumors, to find new diagnostic tools and treatment options. During this search, we have developed new surgical techniques and explored novel treatment protocols.
