Synopsis
One challenge of anesthesia is to provide adequate and long lasting pain relief for surgical procedures or for labor and delivery. Together with my Doctoral Student, Diana Ickowicz, in the laboratory of Prof A. Domb from the Institute for Drug Research, School of Pharmacy, we are developing and testing a new formulation of local anesthetic agent to provide long lasting analgesia.
Cesarean delivery rates are rising concurrently with increased maternal morbidity and mortality rates. My clinical studies focused on anesthesia strategies that may advance maternal safety during labor and delivery.
