The Retina Unit treats retinal diseases. Diagnosis and treatment are done with the help of advanced retinal imaging devices. The unit performs retinal surgeries, which includes retinal detachment repair and macular repair. The unit provides laser and medicinal treatment for a variety of retinal diseases, including AMD. Additionally, the unit diagnoses and treats hereditary retinal diseases together with the Electrophysiology Diagnostic Laboratory.
The Retina Unit is also involved in various research and studies. It houses a number of specialized laboratories which study various retinal diseases, and develop new treatment methods. Current research includes:
- Electrophysiology of the Retina and Stem Cells as a Treatment Method (Prof. Banin Eyal)
- AMD (Prof. Chowers Itay)
- Heriditary Retina Diseases (PHD. Sharon Dror)
