The research activity in the department is extensive and involves most of the doctors.
Clinical research in the department focuses on various topics in general surgery and subspecialties that exist in the department. Studies in general surgery include the treatment of the appendix, gallbladder and hernias.
Many studies in surgical subspecialties include the fields of endocrine surgery, bariatric surgery, colorectal surgery, proctology, breast surgery and abdominal wall surgery.
The department's doctors present their research in the various fields at conferences in Israel and around the world and get to publish their work in leading surgical newspapers.
The laboratory research in the department includes collaboration with various laboratories in Hadassah. In the field of intestinal physiology, there is collaboration with Prof. Menachem Hanani and his laboratory at Mount Scopus. In the endocrine field there is a collaboration with Prof. Ido Ben Dov and his laboratory in Ein Kerem. In the field of bariatrics, there is a collaboration with Dr. Dani Ben Zvi and his laboratory in Ein Kerem. In addition, collaboration with Dr. Simona Glasberg investigates the treatment of neuroendocrine tumors in mice.
