Purim

The holiday of Purim has a wonderful custom of sending food packages (mishloach manot) to one's friends.

People like their packages to be creative and one-of-a-kind. We recommend that you try to make your packages healthy and heart-friendly. You can include foods such as:
  • walnuts
  • dried fruits
  • olive oil
  • whole grain bread
  • low-fat jams
  • spices and herbs - especially in their plant form, so your friend can enjoy these delicious spices year round.
It's the lower-class that suffer the most the high calorie and high sugar foods that most people send their friends on Purim. The junk food is cheaper and more affordable. Mishloach manot is a good chance to give the less fortunate healthy foods (such as those listed above).
