Intravenous Pyelography (IVP) is a test that checks the kidneys and bladder. The test is used to determine the existence of stones in the bladder or other reasons causing blockage.

During the test, a substance containing iodine is injected into the body and images are taken, which track the iodine receptor process, through the kidney and into the bladder.

The exam is about half an hour long however, if a blockage is found in the bladder, the exam can take longer.

For pre-exam preparations, please call our offices. Please notify the office in advance if you suffer from an iodine allergy.
