The Center for the Early Detection of Colorectal Cancer and Familial Cancer provides screening for colorectal cancer for the general population. The center is a joint project between the Service of Gastroenterology at Hadassah and the Jerusalem Municipality. It aims to provide comprehensive information to the general population, screening tests, including fecal blood in stool and sigmoidoscopy in the average risk population, development of a database, and promotion of clinical studies.The center monitors and counsels patients with a family history of colon cancer and monitoring patients undergoing polyp removal.
The Center will be established in the community, in the public health clinic of the municipality. The administrative staff and nurses will be employees of the municipality, and the physicians from our Gastroenterological Service.
