Dr. Michael Friedlaender is a graduate of Oxford University and St. Mary's Hospital, London. Following specialization in Copenhagen, Denmark he has been a senior nephrologist in Hadassah University Hospital since 1975. He is medical coordinator of the Hadassah Renal Transplant program and has many publications both concerning renal transplantation and basic research in renal physiology. The latter include the effect of vitamin D on renal function, signal transduction mechanisms in renal cell cultures, and animal studies on mechanisms of recovery from acute renal failure. He has authored over 70 articles including several chapters in books, and has been visiting professor in the Department of Nephrology, SUNY Stony Brook NY, and visiting research scientist in Nephrology Division, School of Medicine, Stanford, California. He continues in an advisory capacity to the National Transplant Center and is currently Associate Professor in Medicine.
