Prof. Nurit Kaiser holds a M. Pharm. degree from the Hebrew
University School of Pharmacy, Jerusalem, Israel, and a Ph.D.
degree in Biochemical Pharmacology from the State University
of New York at Buffalo. She completed three years of postdoctoral
training at the Cardiovascular Research Institute, The University
of California Medical Center, San Francisco, CA and spent
one year as a visiting scientist and Lecturer at the Joslin
Diabetes Center, Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA. Prof.
Kaiser joined the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism
at Hadassah University Hospital in 1978 and she is currently
an Associate Professor of Experimental Endocrinology. She
is interested in beta-cell function in diabetes and her research
focuses on insulin biosynthesis and secretion, islet cell
growth and apoptosis, and animal models of diabetes. She is
currently involved in studies aimed to develop alternative
source of insulin secreting cells for the treatment of diabetes.
Prof. Kaiser is the author of 74 publications and chapters
in books and an active member of several organizations of
Endocrinology and Diabetes.
