Abstract

The objective of this trial is to compare the effect of eplerenone plus standard therapy versus placebo plus standard therapy on the rate of all cause mortality in patients with heart failure (HF) after an acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Secondary endpoints include cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.
This multi-center, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, two-arm, parallel group trial will continue until 1012 deaths occur, which is estimated to require approximately 6200 randomized patients followed for an average of approximately 2.5.years.
