Prime Minister Sharon is in the I.C Unit in the department of Neurosurgery in a stable condition. All the parameter we usually measure in patients in this unit, such as blood pressure, pulse, urine output, inter-carnial pressure – are all within the norms expected of a patient in his condition. The main treatment PM Sharon is receiving now is deep anesthesia and ventilation. The purpose of this treatment is to decrease the inter-carnial pressure and the blood pressure in order to let the brain to recover from the trauma it underwent as a result of the brain event as well as the surgery. This treatment is not conducted with a stop watch in hand and it may take some 24 or 48 or even 72 hours – depending on the condition of the PM. All we are doing now is only monitoring the parameters I mentioned.

We still cannot evaluate how this trauma will affect his motorics, his thinking capabilities. Not before we gradually stop anesthise and ventilate him.
