INTRODUCTION
The Department of Orthodontics is involved in the teaching of students in the undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum. The formal 3½-year program of graduate training is an essential feature of the department, which conforms to the standards of the European Erasmus program in Orthodontics. Comprehensive clinical orthodontic services in the department include routine orthodontics, adult treatment, the treatment of impacted teeth, the treatment of cranio-facial malformations and lingual orthodontics. Interdisciplinary clinics are run in association with the Pedodontic, Periodontic, Oral Rehabilitation and Surgical departments and for the treatment of the Special Needs child. Senior orthodontic faculty are integral members of the cleft lip and palate and cranio-facial multidisciplinary teams.
Clinical research is performed within the department and basic biological research is carried out in collaboration with Prof. A. Palmon DMD, Ph.D., Department of Oral Biology in the Faculty and with Prof. E. Yefe Nof, Ph.D., Head of the Department of Immunology. Research is also being conducted in collaboration with the Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer and with the Weizmann Institute in Rehovot.
