INTRODUCTION
The Unit of Neurological Sciences at Hadassah Mount Scopus consists of a clinical service and research unit and a basic neuroscience laboratory. The clinical unit provides a comprehensive in-hospital consultation service and medical care encompassing all aspects of clinical neurology.
The laboratory is involved mainly on the study of molecular mechanisms of viral infections of the brain and focuses on: i) the elucidation of the molecular basis of herpes simplex virus latent infection in the nervous system; ii) herpes virus neurotropism; iii) basic mechanisms of viral infections and iv) use of gene therapy in the central and peripheral nervous system. The laboratory is also actively engaged in teaching undergraduate and graduate students who participate in these research endeavors.
