New treatment for bad breath

Treatment for bad breath includes daily use of a tongue cleaner and an antiseptic mouthwash.

This treatment is relatively effective for the short term, but it involves some problems. The use of a tongue cleaner can trigger a vomiting reflex, which decreases the patient’s cooperation and harms the effectiveness of the treatment. In addition, daily use of an effective mouthwash could stain the teeth. Many mouthwashes contain alcohol or other ingredients that might irritate the mucous membranes or have other unwanted side effects. And, they lose their effectives in about eight hours.

Dr. Nir Sterer and Dr. Michel Perez-Davidi of the Hebrew University-Hadassah School of Dental Medicine have developed a unique herbal tablet to prevent infection to the palate and cause bad breath.הטבליות משמשות כנשא לשחרור מושהה של הרכיבים הפעילים שנמצאו בעלי פעילות אנטי בקטריאלית. The tablet, called SmellX, contains delayed release anti-bacterial ingredients. The tablet can be attached to the palate without interfering with speaking, eating or drinking. All the ingredients of the tablet are safe, approved for use in the mouth and are kosher.
