Gift Baskets Can Be Healthy Too!
Gift baskets ("mishloach manot") of food are a wonderful, heartwarming Purim tradition, but we recommend that you include in the contents foods that are healthy for the recipient. Paraphrasing the proverb, “Do not do to the heart of your friend that which is unhealthy for your own,” you should be sure to include foods in your baskets like walnuts, dried fruits, olive oil, high quality jams and preserves, whole-grain breads and crackers, in order to “enter into Adar joyfully,” able to enjoy every opportunity to enjoy this happy season.
