Present Position
Noah Stern, 68 Professor Emeritus, Member of the Department of Prosthodontics, Hebrew University-Hadassah School of Dental Medicine, Jerusalem, Israel. Diplomate, Israel Board of Prosthodontics.
Educational Background
Dr. Stern immigrated to Israel in 1949, from Czechoslovakia. Awarded a DMD degree by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1962.
He completed his graduate studies in Prosthodontics and obtained his MSD from Boston University in 1969.
He has since held teaching, research and administrative positions at the Hebrew University - Hadassah School of Dental Medicine founded by the Alpha Omega Fraternity.
Academic and Professional Activities
Dr. Stern started his 40 year tenure at the School of Dental Medicine in Jerusalem as a resident, and was promoted to Full Professor in 1987.
He is credited with revitalizing the Fixed Prosthodontic Basic Course for sophomore students (1969-1976) and the Comprehensive Patient Care Program for senior students (1977-1985) during his tenure as director of these programs.
He has served as Head Department of Prosthodontics (1987-2000) Vice Dean for Clinical Affairs (1996-1999) Head of Clinics (1996-1999) and Director of Advanced Education in General Dentistry(2000) at the Hebrew University-Hadassah School of Dental Medicine. He has served as an examiner of the Israel Board of Oral Rehabilitation (1982-1986) and is a Past President of the Israel Society of Oral Rehabilitation (1992).
He has held Visiting Professorships at the Universities of Pahlavi (in Iran 1975), Pennsylvania (1976/77), Zurich (1982), Michigan (1986-87), New York (1991) and Boston (1998).
He has published more than 90 articles in the international dental literature and has presented papers in the U.S.A., Canada, Europe, Africa and Israel.
Awards, Certificates and Honors
Recognition of Dr. Stern's contribution have come in the form of awards, certificates and honors:
He is a recipient of the "Best Teacher" award from the Hebrew University-Hadassah School of Dental Medicine (1971 & 1973), and from the School of Dental Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania (1977).
He received a Certificate of appreciation for voluntary service in dentistry from the President of the State of Israel (1982)
Gold Lapel Pin for outstanding service for the Hadassah Medical Organization, from the President of HMO (1988)
Distinguished Service Citation from the Pierre Fauchared Academy, for outstanding contributions to the profession of Dentistry (1993).
He earned honorary membership in the Israel Society of Prosthodontics (2000)
The Israel Dental Association Achievement Award in recognition of his contribution to dentistry in Israel (2001).
The Department of Prosthodontics, School of Dental Medicine of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem presented him a Certificate of Appreciation for his service as Head of the Department for 13 years (2002).
