Prof. Avraham I. Rivkind, MD

Avraham I. Rivkind, MD, is Associate Professor of Surgery and Head of Department of the General Surgery and Shock Trauma Unit at Hadassah Hospital, Jerusalem, and holds the Karl Stoll Chair in surgery. He served his military service in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), and subsequently received his medical degree from the Hebrew University, Hadassah Medical School, Jerusalem, and completed his residency in the same university.

Professor Rivkind completed a fellowship in traumatology and critical care at the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services System (MIEMSS) Baltimore, Maryland, and was visiting Associate Professor in Trauma and Fore-gut surgery at the University of Southern California. Chairperson of the Israel COT & Advanced Trauma Life Support course. Personal physician to the late president of the State of Israel, Mr Ezer Weizman, as well as advisor to the Surgeon General of the IDF on general surgery, trauma and ethics. Research interests comprise haemorrhagic shock, fluid resuscitation and all aspects of trauma care.
