Dr. Ora Paltiel was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada and studied Medicine at McGill University in Montreal, where she received the gold medal upon graduation.

After completing her Internal Medicine training at Montreal General Hospital, she earned her Master degree in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from McGill University, where she went on to undertake her subspecialty training in Hematology.

In 1992, she and her family made aliyah and she joined the staff of the School of Public Health of Hadassah University Hospital. While her appointment is in the School of Public Health, she continued to be a practicing Hematologist through her affiliation with the Hematology Department.

Dr. Paltiel receives patients in the Lymphoma Clinic of Hadassah Ein Kerem and serves as attending physician in the Hematology Department.

Dr. Paltiel also has a very important role in teaching students at both the medical school level and the graduate (Master’s) level.

She organizes as well as teaches courses in Epidemiology and Clinical Epidemiology. She participates actively in teaching hematology to medical students. Not only is the quantity of her teaching impressive, but so is the quality.

She has received 5 awards for excellence in teaching, 4 of them here in Israel (where she teaches in Hebrew, a significant achievement).

In addition, to all of the above, Dr. Paltiel is an active academician, with a number of active research projects relating to epidemiology and quality of care. She also participates in several key committees in the school.

In the School of Public Health, Dr. Paltiel plays a vital role in promoting research and quality of care, cancer epidemiology and clinical epidemiololgy.

In addition, she performs studies to evaluate the level of care given at Hadassah. This type of internal audit regarding the success in treating a variety of clinical problems, adds immeasurable to the high standard of care given at Hadassah and contributes to the ongoing expectation of excellence in clinical practice.
