Research interests

TMJ Osteoarthritis

·         Pathogenesis ( Including two new animal model of osteoarthritis  that clarify the pathogenesis)

·         The efficiency of arthrocentesis : Long term results

·         New liposomes act as effective Biolubricants for friction reduction in human synovial joints

TMJ Condylar Hyperplasia

·         The impact of high condylectomy only on facial symmetry in 75 cases with TMJ condylar hyperplasia.

·         The role of Vasculoendothelial Growth Factor  in the  pathogenesis of TMJ Condylar Hyperplasia.

·         An animal model of TMJ condylar hyperplasia using  transgenic mouse model which allows the modulation of VEGF expression in the condyle

·         Studying the reversibility of the phenotype effect of VEGF following it’s removal  in the post natal mouse condyle via a conditional over expression

TMJ Ankylosis

·         Preserving the condyle keeps the growth potential and provides better function.

·         An alternative way to cope with surgical loss of TMJ condylar vertical height resulting normal function and  normal occlusion

·         The contribution of  3D documentation of the TMJ on the diagnosis, type and duration of the surgical intervention
