·         Developing a novel diagnostic tool assessing Lateral compression fractures of the pelvis, a biomechanical and clinical study.

 

·         Patient specific Finite element modeling of the pelvis.

 

·         Intraoperative guided navigation: 1-Cone beam CT for image guided surgery. Pre-clinical investigation in Tibial plateau fractures. 2- Computer Assisted surgery in combination with cone beam CT technology. Fracture reduction project.

This pilot project is aimed at developing a sensitive and repeatable intraoperative device to measure pelvic stability and a multidimensional research protocol to assess stability in lateral compression pelvic fractures.

 

2. Whyne CM, Khoury A, Roth S, Bulmer B, Stephen D, Kreder H. Lateral Compression Pelvic Injuries: To fix or not to fix? University of Toronto, Zimmer Unrestricted Funds. 2004-2005. (Co-PI)

This project utilized computational analysis to quantify pelvic displacement patterns in lateral compression fractures.

 

3. Khoury A. Biomechanical assessment of the Insufficiency Fractures of the pelvis, using Finite Element Modeling. Hadassah internal funds. 2205-2006. (PI).

This study utilizes Finite element analysis of a pelvic model, previously validated at our lab, for the assessment of the insufficiency fractures of the pelvis, and the effect of bone density changes on the fractures occurrence.

Israel National Institute for Health Policy and Health Services Research (NIHP), “Comparative, multi-center study evaluation the treatment outcome of high-energy femoral fractures as a measure of the effectiveness of the orthopedic trauma system in Israel”, R. MosheiffPI , L. Brocke, M. Avitzur, A Khoury,  439,450 NIS.

This is a multicenter, prospective study, evaluating femoral fractures outcome, at level 1 and 2 hospital s in Israel and comparing the results between the two categories.
