The Hadassah Medical Organization is dedicated to quality care and excellent service. As a university medical center, we strive for advancement in medicine, research and education in all health-related areas.

Patients at the Hadassah University Medical Centers, in the in-patient departments, day care or ambulatory clinics, have both rights and responsibilities.
PATIENT'S RIGHTS
1. It is your right to receive proper medical treatment without discrimination with regard to race, religion, nationality, country of origin or gender.
2. It is your right to know the identity, i.e., name, profession, and position of those treating you.
3. It is your right to be treated with kindness and consideration, while respecting your dignity and privacy as much as possible.
4. It is your right that every possible attempt be made to keep information concerning your treatment confidential.
5. It is your right to receive a full explanation of the diagnosis of your disease, the basic nature and goal of the treatment offered, the anticipated benefits and possible risks of the treatment, alternative methods of treatment, and whether the treatment is innovative. Your freely given informed consent is required prior to the treatment.
6. It is your right to appoint and authorize a representative to give or deny consent for treatment on your behalf, according to the conditions you stipulate.
7. It is your right to obtain a second medical opinion on your own initiative (and expense).
8. It is your right to receive all available information at the time of discharge, including a summary discharge letter and instruction for continuation of treatment and follow-up. Further results conclusions and recommendations are to be made available to you within a reasonable time.
9. It is your right to obtain a copy of your medical records regarding your treatment (there is a charge for this service).
10. It is your right to receive an explanation of your rights and assistance in solving problems that may arise. A hospital Patient Representative available to help you. Seeking assistance from the Patient Representative will not affect your treatment.
PATIENT'S RESPONSIBILITIES
Many patients in various states of health are treated at Hadassah. We strive to provide care which is as personal as possible. So that we may successfully fulfill our responsibilities, we expect your cooperation with those who treat you, in the following areas:
1. It is your responsibility to supply those caring for you with complete and exact information concerning your health, and to provide, in so far as possible, relevant documents.
2. It is to your benefit to inform those caring for you when you do not understand explanations, if the information given is insufficient, and to apprise them of your expectations.
3. It is to your benefit to be involved and cooperate in the treatment process and to follow the instructions of those treating you. Moreover, you should inform those treating you of changes in your condition or of new medical problems.
4. It is your responsibility to be considerate of other patients, their condition and dignity and treat them as you would expect them to treat you.
5. It is your responsibility to comply with the rules of the hospital with regard to visiting hours, maintaining cleanliness, smoking regulations, safety regulations, and the use of cellular phones.
6. Since you benefit greatly from Hadassah’s academic facility, we hope you will also exhibit patience and understanding toward medical and para-medical students.
