The information given below is aimed to give you an idea on the admission procedures and the treatment in the emergency room. Any visit to the emergency room involves a lot of questions and a certain degree of apprehension. We are aware of this and will make every effort to make your stay with us as easy as possible.
Admission and payment arrangements:
Upon arriving to the emergency room, first register at the reception desk and then proceed to the waiting room.
The visit to the emergency room is payable. Reimbursement of this payment is available upon an appropriate voucher from your health fund.
Waiting area:
In the waiting room you will be seen by a nurse who will inquire about the reason of your coming and then carry out some tests.
At this moment she will inform you who is the doctor that will examine you: an internist, a surgeon, an orthopedist, a gynecologist or a pediatrician.
Patience:
In the nature of things, there is a lot of waiting involved in an emergency room visit. It can take two hours or more to receive tests results.
Sometimes the doctor who is due to examine you may be busy with treatment of another patient, or in surgery. There may be no alternative but to wait for this particular doctor, even though there are other doctors in the emergency room.
Not every doctor can treat every problem - doctors specialize in different fields of medicine.
Only after receiving all laboratory test results and X-rays, and following a doctor's examination, it will be possible to decide what treatment is necessary.
Observation, follow up, hospitalization and discharge:
Sometimes your remaining in the emergency room after the examinations is aimed to observe that the patient's situation has not aggravated and that the patient may be discharged without fear.
The doctor who examined you is not always the one who discharges you.
Discharge from the emergency room is made by a senior supervising doctor. This is done in order to make sure that all data regarding your situation have been taken into account in the time of the discharge.
In some cases there may be a possibility to transfer you to another hospital for an examination or treatment that is not available in our hospital.
Food and beverages:
Please check with the nurse that you are allowed to eat. If the answer is affirmative, you may receive a cup of tea and a sandwich in the emergery room.
Accompanying persons:
In order to avoid noise and unnecessary crowding in the emergency room it is recommended to allow only one accompanying person for each patient.
Discharge:
When discharged please make sure that you have fully understood the instructions for the continuing treatment. Also take your discharge letter from the reception desk.
The medical staff in the emergency room wish you a speedy recovery.
