Welcome to the delivery room!
Giving birth, even taking place in a hospital, is a natural process and we make every effort to ensure that it is a pleasant experience for you and your family.
How to reach the delivery room
The main entrance to the Mother and Child Pavilion is open every day until 20:00.
On Fridays, the eve of holidays and Saturdays the entrance is open between 7:00 – 19:00.
Access to the delivery room after these hours is through the Emergency Room.
Registration
It is preferable to register for the delivery from week 24 of your pregnancy, in order to ensure a bed in our department.
Registration is carried out in the maternity admissions office, at the entrance to the Mother and Child Pavilion, or in the Ziv Dialysis Unit, the Maternity Building of Bikur-Cholim Hospital Sunday to Thursday between 8:00 and 14:00.
Please bring with you updated identity cards of both parents, bank account number and your pregnancy follow up card.

Delivery room
Who takes care of you in the delivery room?
Care in the delivery room is given by a team of qualified midwives and the medical staff of the Obstetrics and Gynecology department.
A pediatrician and anesthesiologist are at the service of the delivery room 24 hours a day.
When should I come to the delivery room?
o When you feel regular contractions.
o When your waters break
o If you have bleeding similar to the start of menstruation
o If fetal movements become weaker, noticeably more infrequent or if there are no movements.
What to bring to the delivery room in preparation for giving birth?
o Your pregnancy follow-up card
o Results of ultrasound examinations and any other tests carried out during the pregnancy
o Medical documents relating to medical problems in the past
o Stickers on your name, which you will receive when you register for the delivery, and a treatment consent form
o Toiletries and slippers
o If you want to wear your own clothes when giving birth, please bring a nightgown with wide sleeves and a bed-jacket (freshly laundered)
o Net or disposable briefs and a nursing bra
o Telephone card (mobile telephones may not be used in the delivery room)
o Reading matter
Maternity department
About one hour after giving birth, mother and baby are moved to the maternity department by a midwife.
The family can accompany them in the delivery room elevator.
The maternity department is located on the floor above the delivery rooms.
The father will receive a “father’s card” from the maternity department nurse, allowing free access to the infants room and entry to the maternity department between 8:00 – 20:00.
