Vascular Trauma
The department has gained much experience in vascular trauma. The hospital serves as a medical center for the Israel Defense Forces. The multi disciplinary treatment is presently interacted through the Trauma Unit staff.
The department serves the cardiology wards of Ein Kerem, Mount Scopus and Bikur Holim hospitals regularly and treats all catheterization complications, such as: repair of pseudo-aneurysms and revascularization of acute ischemic extremities.
In recent years a new collaboration has been established with the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, performing:
- Combined coronary artery bypass with carotid endarterectomy for patients suffering from concomitant coronary artery disease and carotid stenosis,
- Repair of thoraco abdominal aneurysms, using "adjuct" measures: (cerebrospinal fluid drainage (csf) and distal aortic perfusion).
