Vascular and

Interventional Radiology

Dr. Allan Bloom

Chief  Vascular and Interventional Radiology

Vascular and Interventional Radiology (VIR), also known as "minimally invasive image guided surgery", is characterized by non-operative high tech solutions to many common medical problems.

Utilizing sophisticated imaging, state of the art technology, and without the need for general anesthesia and open surgery, VIR provides durable and effective treatments for a multitude of conditions. In many cases these therapies are as good as, or better than, any existing open surgical alternative.

This fact explains the recent meteoric rise of this medical specialty to 'center stage' status in modern practice.

Dr. Allan Bloom is an US fellowship trained vascular and interventional radiologist who was recently appointed as director of the service at Hadassah university medical center. Prior to this he spent three years as an attending in VIR at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) where he gained unique experience in many areas of modern VIR practice, some examples of which are further described in his CV.
