The D.M.D. curriculum last six-years. The Department of Prosthodontics is in charge of teaching fourth, fifth and sixth year dental students. The studies include the theoretical and practical aspects of diagnosis, therapy and maintenance of the stomatognathic system and the well-being of the patient.
A graduate program of three-and-a-half year is offered to those interested in qualifying as specialists in Oral Rehabilitation or in pursuing an academic career. This graduate program, in affiliation with the Department of Restorative Dentistry, which includes lectures, seminars and the treatment of complex clinical cases, qualifies its graduates as specialists in Oral Rehabilitation. The department also teaches several continuing education courses during each academic year.
The Departmental research focuses on specific prosthodontic problems, and covers diagnostic, physiological, technological and preventive aspects of oral rehabilitation. Special emphasis is placed on functional factors of the stomatognathic system in health and disease. Faculty members are actively engaged in research, including joint projects with other departments, both preclinical and clinical of the Hebrew University-Hadassah Medical Campus.
The Clinical treatment of the Department of Prosthodontics provides advanced procedures in the fields of fixed and removable prosthodontics, esthetics, periodontal-prosthesis, implantology, and TMJ dysfunction.
The Oral Implant Center (OIC) is composed of faculty originating from three independent departments; The Department of Prosthodontics, The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and The Department of Periodontics. The Prosthetic Implant Clinic is part of the Department of Prosthodontics.
