Congenital Anomalies of Upper Extremity
0.1-0.2% of infants are born with upper extremity anomalies. Some are related to other anomalies.
Syndactyly, polydactyly, bifid thumb, hypoplastic thumb or trigger thumb are the common anomalies seen.
Our goal is to improve the child’s function and independence although cosmetic appearance is considered as well. Some anomalies require surgery, perhaps several procedures. Others require splinting and therapy.
