Nerve and tendon
chronic conditions
(including trigger finger and
carpal tunnel syndrome)
Nerves and tendons of the upper extremity are stabilized along their course with different ligaments. At times, these ligaments cause constriction and disrupt function.
Chronic compression of a nerve will result in altered sensation or decrease in muscle strength, as with carpal tunnel syndrome (compression of the median nerve at the wrist).
Restriction of tendon gliding will cause pain and limited function, as with trigger finger (limited function of the digit flexor tendons).
