Welcome to the official website of the NATURAL BIRTH CENTER of Jerusalem. The Natural Birth Center Is the only facility of it's kind In the Jerusalem area.
The aim of the "Natural Childbirth Center" is to provide a framework that encourages physiological labor and birth for women who are at "low risk". This is accomplished with utmost consideration for the couple's wishes and minimal medical intervention. Furthermore, acceptable levels of safety within the modern labor and delivery setting are preserved.
The Natural Childbirth Center provides a personal and intimate environment where you and your partner will experience labor and delivery supported continuously by our midwifery staff on a "one to one" relationship. The midwife will be guided by a birth plan that you have customized to your individual needs.
Our philosophy supports birth as a physiological process that is part of life's cycle and the body's natural functions. Every woman has the capacity to confront the challenges of natural birth if that is her desire. Natural birth can be promoted with respect for the couples beliefs and culture together in a safe environment.
The Natural Childbirth Center is situated in the Mother and Child Pavilion in the Hadassah Ein Kerem Jerusalem facilities. We are located next to the conventional Labor and Delivery unit. In the center are two home-style rooms with a double bed, Jacuzzi bath and all the accessories needed to support physiological labor and delivery. There is also a small waiting room for families and friends together with kitchen facilities in the complex.
Our Clientele
Delivery in the center is especially for women that are considered to be "low risk". This means that you are healthy, have a normal pregnancy, a singleton baby in the head presentation with a estimated birth weight between 2500-4000 kilograms and will deliver at term between 37-42 weeks gestational age. In addition if this is your first baby, we would like you to complete a preparation course for labor and delivery before registration.
Clientele and situations not suitable for delivery in the Natural Birth Center
Women who suffer from chronic conditions that can have adverse effect on the pregnancy, women with past Cesarean section, premature or post-date deliveries (before 37 weeks or after 42 weeks), women with estimated fetal weight below 2500 kilograms or above 4000 kilograms, women with their first pregnancy who are below age 18 or over age 40, women who have any abnormalities occurring during the present pregnancy that require medical attention.
Our Staff
Birthing care in the "Natural Childbirth Center" is provided by certified midwives who are specially trained to manage physiological childbirth.
Midwives in the center are accountable for holistic support during the birthing process, through the recovery stage and transfer to the postpartum unit. The midwife follows the normal development of the birthing process. while focusing on alternative methods that you have chosen to help cope with your labor and delivery.
In addition, for your security the medical staff of the labor and delivery unit retain overall responsibility for you while you are in the center. They will support minimum medical intervention as long as the process remains "low risk".
How much does the Natural Childbirth Center cost?
Payment for the center is 3500 shekels. This is "out of pocket".
The payment is divided into two installments
§ 500 shekels deposit after the registration is completed (these monies are non-refundable)
§ 3000 shekels is paid after the use of our services. For this purpose a security check is required during registration.
How to register for our services
Registration is done in the Natural Childbirth Center located in the Mother and Child Pavilion on the ת-1 level.
Appointments for the clinic are made through the Hadassah appointment center 02-5842111 or *6777.
Clinic hours are every Tuesday from 9:00 till 13:00
If you are interested in our services:
Please make an appointment after your 35th week of pregnancy.
At your appointment evaluation and authorization that you are "low risk” will be done by a midwife and physician, therefore please make sure to bring the following documents with you…
§ follow-up card from your attending physician,
§ all sonograms performed during pregnancy including a recent sonogram with estimated fetal weight
§ all laboratory results
After you receive authorization to deliver in the Natural Childbirth Center the deposit and security check will be given to the hospital admissions office to guarantee our services and complete registration.
Guided tours of the Natural Childbirth Center
Every Tuesday at 15:30 you are invited to see our center and receive an explanation of our services. At this time you can ask all of your questions and receive the answers that will enable you to make your decisions as to where you would like to have your baby!
