Endodontics deals with the prevention and treatment of dental pulp disease. Irreversible damage to the dental pulp tissue ends mostly with root canal in the damaged tooth, including removing the damaged dental pulp.

As the disease progresses the root-tip tissue is destroyed, so there's need for endodontic treatment. An endodontic expert is needed in many cases, and so are the treating methods in different cases. The clinical and theoretical knowledge needed in order to successfully handle these situations is learned in the endodontic internship program.
