The Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery provides comprehensive diagnosis and surgical care to patients with diseases of the lungs, airways, diaphragm, chest wall and mediastinum. The most frequently performed procedures are:

All candidates for thoracic surgical procedures at the Hadassah University Medical Center are evaluated by a multi-disciplinary team comprised of consultants from Pulmonology, Oncology, Radiology, Nuclear Medicine and Thoracic Surgery. All decisions about the surgical procedures are made by this unique Tumor Board. All patients undergo preoperative cardiac and pulmonary function evaluation.
Chest surgery is performed at the Hadassah University Hospital-Ein Kerem. It features17 operating rooms equipped with state of the art diagnostic and surgical equipment.
Postoperative care is provided by a specialized health care team in the newly renovated Intensive Care Unit and the Cardiothoracic floor. Postoperative follow up is completed at the Department's out-patient clinic.
