Teaching
Fourth and final year medical students are taught in formal lectures and in small clinical groups of five to six students, an effective means of providing training and apprenticeship. The Department of Cardiology has a modern computerized teaching room, allowing students to access to audio-visual aids and progress at their own pace.
Visiting students from foreign medical schools that attend for short elective periods are taught individually by the senior staff. The students are welcomed and participate in the daily life of the department.
Residents undertake their clinical fellowship training after completing a compulsory period of training in Internal Medicine and passing their Israeli Board examinations. Teaching is by practical, supervised experience as well as direct theoretical training. The goal of the Residency program is to graduate a cardiologist who has superb interpersonal and technical skills – in the fields of electrocardiography and echocardiography – and who can perform the practical skills of cardiac catheterization, interventional procedures, electrophysiological studies and pacemaker implantation.
