Molecular Genetic Identification of Cardiac Disease-Causing Genes

Methods used include:

Mutation detection using linkage analysis, candidate gene approach and gene expression studies

Techniques used:

PCR, gel electrophoresis of DNA, SSCP and heteroduplex analysis, linkage analysis with STS and restriction enzyme markers for recombination mapping.

Expression studies: expression cloning in eukaryotic cells using plasmid vectors, western blotting, immunohistochemistry and immunoflorescence microscopy of transfected cell lines and of muscle tissue
