The Heart Institute at the Hadassah Medical Center
The Heart Institute offers the most advanced services in Israel for diagnosis and treatment of heart patients.
The hospitalization units include the Intensive Cardiac Care Unit (ICCU) which treats patients who underwent Myocardial Infarction or patients with life-threatening heart conditions.
In the Cardiology Departments (Cardiology and Cardiology 4th floor / Yam), hospitalized heart patients are supervised and monitored. Most of the patients in those departments are in preparation for or following interventional heart procedures, and require supervision and specialized professional treatment.
The Interventional Cardiology Unit (Catheterization Lab) performs diagnostic catheterizations, angioplasty and many other actions for diagnosis and treatment the heart coronaries.
The Electrophysiology Unit deals with abnormalities of the electric conductivity system which controls heart activity. This center performs varies procedures including pacemaker implantations, Electrophysiological treatments of heart rhythm disorders (EPS) and ablations (cauterization of problematic conductivity tracks in the heart).
The Center for Heart Failure and Heart Muscle Diseases evaluates, treats and follows patients who suffer from severe heart deficiency and/or acute myocardial problems, and heart transplant patients both in preparation for and after the procedure.
Ambulatory services units at the Heart Institute are especially focused on providing the patient with the best diagnostics and treatment.
Echocardiography Units perform ultra sonic analysis of the heart.
Exercise Stress Testing is performed to evaluate the heart’s function during physical exertion.
Holter (24-hour ECG) records heart function on a special device, during at least a 24-hour consecutive period during normal activity.
Heart Scanning (CT) examines the supply of blood to the heart both during exertion and at rest, utilizing Thallium to track the blood supply to the heart. Evaluation of the kinetics of the cardiac walls is also performed (MUGA).
Heart Institute patients are closely followed at the Heart Clinics. The cardiologists of the clinics monitor patients’ health and supervise modification of their cardiac risk factors.
The Pediatric Cardiology Unit cares for children born with heart defects, and treats heart diseases which manifest during childhood.
Cardiology Coronary Computerized Tomography (CT) enables feasible non-invasive coronary imaging, and in some cases eliminates the need for catheterization.
THE CARDIOLOGY UNIT AT HADASSAH MOUNT-SCOPUS
At the cardiology unit in Mount Scopus, patients with acute heart problems are hospitalized in the ICCU or other units.
Various services such as Echoardiography, Exercise Stress Testing, Cardiac Reabilitation and Cardiology Clinics are provided as well.
The Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit at Mount Scopus services patients who underwent Myocardial Infarction (MI), Angioplasty (PTCA / PCI) or Coronary Bypass surgery (CABG). The aim of the REABILITATION PROGRAM is to enable these patients to experience a speedy and efficient recovery, in order to return them to a normal active lifestyle as quickly as posible.
This goal is obtained by a close accompanyment of the patient throughout his whole reabilitation program.
