Two successful transplantations at Hadassah

Two transplantation surgeries were conducted last night (august 12) at Hadassah Ein-Kerem.

 

A 58 years old from Nahariyah who received a new heart. He is in a good condition now, in the department of cardio-thoracic surgery. His surgeons were, Prof. Amir El-Ami, Dr. Ehud Rudis and the anesthesiologist Dr. Giora Landsberg.

 

A 55 years old woman from Beit-She'an received a new liver, by surgeons Prof. Ahmad Eid (newly appointed head of general surgery department at Mt. Scopus), Drs. Gidi Zamir and Tzachi Nir and anesthesiologist Dr. Micha Shamir. This woman who suffered from Cirrhosis, was not expecting a surgery until last Wednesday when she deteriorated and was hospitalized. Only then she was moved up to the top of the waiting list for a new liver. In addition to the very complicated transplantation surgery, the doctors also found blood clots in her portal vein and had to remove them, which is also a complicated procedure.
