Hundreds of Physicians and Researchers to Attend International Conference on Hair in Jerusalem
Hundreds of researchers and clinicians from all over the world will participate in the annual conference of the European Hair Research Company in Jerusalem this week. The efforts to identify hair stem cells that can lead to the development of innovative treatments for chronic diseases, will be among the unique areas of discussion during the conference.
In addition, world leading researchers will discuss the latest developments on male and female alopecia, hair bleaching and aging, hair transplants and hair removal.
This is the largest conference on hair ever. Some 400 of the most senior researchers from more than 30 countries all over the world are expected to attend. Conference Chairman is Professor Abraham Zlotogorsky, Director of the hair clinic and the laboratory of genetic diseases of the hair and skin at Hadassah Medical Center.
"The conference will enable us to brainstorm about current and future developments in the study of hair," emphasized Prof. Zlotogorsky, "In recent years, there has been significant progress in our understanding of the processes taking place in our hair, and of the factors that affect hair growth and hair loss". He noted the on going process of translation of the information generated in the research laboratories into medicinal treatments. "Several diseases related to hair loss and other hair damaging diseases are already treated today with medications", says Prof. Zlotogorsky.
Many internationally renowned researchers will attend the conference, including: international expert in the field of pigmentation of hair Prof Desmond Tobin from the University of Bradford in the U.K., Prof. Angela Cristiano from Columbia University in New York, Professor Michael Randle from Mount Sinai Hospital in New - York, Prof. Ulrike Blum - Fiitbi from Berlin Specialist Hospital Birth of hair diseases.
