Hadassah and Leading Israeli Supermarkets Chain Cooperate to promote healthy nutrition in Reasonable Prices.
While protests and demonstrations for better social justice are held everywhere in Israel, Hadassah recently launched an innovative project to increase the sails of healthy food products in supermarkets in reasonable prices. Joining forces with one of Israel's leading supermarket chains – "Rami Levy Shivuk Hashikma"- the director of Hadassah Nutrition & Diatetic Department Dorit Adler created a basket of healthy food products which will be sold in Rami Levy supermarkets in significant discounted prices.
The list of healthy products will be updated every two weeks. The products will be specifically marked and customers will be encouraged to buy them.
"This is part of our community commitment, and I hope that others will follow us," said Rami Levi.
"It is our duty to change the current situation in which we are forced to buy less healthy food products because they are less expensive," said Dorit Adler. "The products include a protective dietary nutrition against modern diseases; the list reflects the core nutrition that is based on vegetables, fruits, whole wheat, low-fat dairy products, chicken turkey and fish. Main fat sources are olive oil, Canola oil, Tehina (Sesame), nuts and almonds", elaborated Adler. "I hope that the cooperation of Hadassah with Rami Levi Chain Stores will be the first step in a national effort to guarantee a healthier future for Israel," she added.
"We want to enable healthy food for everyone," said Professor Shlomo Mor–Yosef, Hadassah Director General. "The collaboration with Rami Levy is yet another important aspect of our work along with the war against traffic accidents or empowering women in the community. This is an integral part of our mission," added Mor- Yosef.
