Hadassah Medical Organization and Hadassah Women's Zionist Organization of America mourn the death of Rabbi Yaakov Mann Rakovski, who served as Rabbi of Hadassah Medical Center for fifty years.
A native of Jerusalem from a family of Rabbis who's fore fathers were among the first immigrants to Israel in modern era, Rabbi Rakovski will be remembered for combining a vast Torah knowledge of Torah and Jewish laws, outgoing personality, wisdom, kindness and openness.
Rabbi Rakovski made every patient and visitor at Hadassah feel comfortable, and provided spiritual help to all who needed it. He answered questions of Jewish law that arose during and after hospitalization. His rulings and opinions were issued in a long series of compositions, at the center of which was the book series "Aruchat Bat Ami.".
