A recent study headed by Dr. Daniela Katz of the Sharett Institute of Oncology at the Hadassah University Medical Center suggests that the biological therapy used for patients with kidney cancer is also effective for patients with sarcoma, a cancer that develops in the soft tissues or the bone. The results of the recent Hadassah study demonstrate a statistically significant improvement in the process of tumor progression or death in patients treated with Pazopanib.
Pazopanib, an oral medication, approved for the treatment of advanced kidney cancer in adults. The Department of Oncology at the Hadassah University Hospital-Ein Kerem is now offering the treatment free of charge to sarcoma patients with advanced or metastatic disease.
