Physicians from Hadassah’s Patricia and Russell Fleischman Center for Women’s Health were among the featured participants in the observance of International Women’s Day at the Knesset (Israel's parliament) on March 8, 2011. Among other topics, they addressed the issue of sexual assault and advised Knesset members of the availability of Hadassah’s Bat Ami Center for sexual assault victims.
In addition, they provided female Knesset and staff members with consultations and testing for bones health, cervical disease, menopause and other gynecological conditions.
Prof. Amnon Brzezinski, Head of the Patricia and Russell Fleischman Center for Women’s Health, conducted a live forum on women's health on Ynet, the leading Israeli news website. “Education for health starts at the top,” he said. “The female members of the Knesset are a role model for the women in the community – it’s important for them to pay attention to their health. Women should be more aware of the need to perform routine tests for prevention and the early diagnosis of diseases.”
Hadassah prepared special flyers and guides that were distributed throughout the day to encourage women to focus on the state of their health and provide them with support services.
