On Israel’s Memorial Day a successful liver transplant was performed on a 62-year old resident of Hadera at Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem. The patient, Yakov Suisa, is in stable condition and is recovering with only respiratory treatment.
The liver was recovered from the body of a motorcyclist killed in Cyprus. Surgical staff from Hadassah flew to Cyprus to recover the liver. The transplant team was headed by Prof. Ahmed Eid, the head of liver transplants at Hadassah, and the team consisted of surgeons Dr. Gidi Zamir and Dr. Tsachi Nir, and anesthesiologist Dr. Micah Shamir.
