Hollywood Comes to Hadassah

15/11/2011

Monday, an impressive group of Hollywood actors, writers, directors and media leaders – members of The Creative Coalition – visited the Hadassah University Medical Center in Jerusalem, the flagship of Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America. While at Hadassah-Ein Kerem, Prof. Dimitrios Karussis of Hadassah’s Department of Neurology briefed The Creative Coalition delegation on the latest advances in stem cell therapy and described his groundbreaking treatment for ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Members of the delegation also toured the Department of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, where young cancer patients are being treated and had the opportunity to witness Hadassah’s policy of equal treatment and opportunity for all among the patients and the equally multi-ethnic staff.

The Creative Coalition is in Israel to meet with Israeli and Palestinian policy leaders, members of the arts, culture and business communities, and representatives of non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The week-long trip began on Sunday, November 13th.
