"Green Hadassah," volunteer staff from the hospital Hadassah Ein Kerem, recently completed a unique project: a path that traverses the slopes of the mountain, connects to the ancient village of Ein Kerem, several points on the property of the hospital, and the springs of Ein Hindak.
The path is marked with signs of red and green, with signs of blue-white-blue indicating paths toward Jerusalem. There are four entrances to the path (two from the hospital site, one from the village of Ein Kerem, and one from Highway 396.) In each of the entrances there is a sign fitted with a box holding maps the walker can take with him, showing the entire path and providing orientation points. In addition, along the track in eight different points the walker can use his cell phone to get a comprehensive explanation of where he is (dialing 02-677-8833, and then the number corresponding to his location.) The Hadassah website (www.hadassah.co.il) contains a complete description of the path, allowing walkers to plan their routes in advance, and download a map of the path.
The Hadassah path is a contribution of the hospital to the community. Volunteer staff from the hospital worked to establish the path and its signage, and will continue to ensure that the path is clean and passable. “Green Hadassah” staff help the hospital to guard the quality of its surroundings, in addition to its projects to recycle paper, used batteries, plastic and many other projects.
