"Issachar is a strong-boned ass,
Crouching among the sheepfolds.

When he saw how good was safety,
And how pleasant was the country,

He bent his shoulder to the burden.
And became a labourer"

Rejoice, O Zebulon, on your jorneys,
And Issachar, in your tents.
They invite their kin to the mountain,
Where they offer their sacrifice of success.
For they draw from the riches of the sea
And the hidden riches of the sand

His gem was (SAPIR).
His flag was wery dark-blue.
His emblem was Sun and Moon, as it is written (Chronnics) : There were Yissachar sons who were expert astronomers

ISSACHAR

A popular legend tells about the special arrangement between Zebulon and Yissachar. The brothers decided that Yissachar would dedicate himself to the studying of the Tora, and that Zebulon would provide for him. This is hinted by the verse

"Rejoice, O Zebulon, on your jorneys,
And Issachar, in your tents."

This is hinted by the image of the white tent in the centre.

The general green colorarion of the Window symbolizes the Land of Galilee, where the hereditary territory of this tribe was situated.

This window was severely damaged by Jordanean shelling during the 1967 "six-day" war. The white spot on the donkey image at the bottom, as actually a bullet hole.
