Hadassah Children’s School - basic information

The Hadassah School is officially recognized under the Israeli Ministry of Education with a mandate to provide educational services to a daily average of 200 hospitalized children in all of Hadassah's Medical campuses.  The primary goals include fostering a child-centered, learning-oriented environment conducive to the children's education, self-expression, and personal development. The multi-cultural staff provides educational and therapeutic support to children of all ages, religions and cultural background.

Over the years, parents and hospital staff have come to appreciate the benefits of the program.  They continue to seek the school's assistance in educating and preparing the children, and report that beneficiaries of the school programs are generally more calm and relaxed before, during and after their medical procedures, than those children who have not experienced the program.

In 2010 the school, was granted the coveted status of a Pilot Study School, allowing it to embark on a four-year research initiative, funded in part by the Ministry of Education.  As part of our research, our teaching staff continues to develop and establish our impressive mEducation  Hospital Education Program, which is a unique series of lesson plans that facilitate hospitalized children’s understanding of the various medical conditions and procedures they experience during their hospital stay.

The school has classroom space in all pediatric departments and offers simultaneous translation (Hebrew/Arabic) during school lessons.
